Father Lovasik was born to Slovak parents in Tarentum, a small steel town in Southwestern Pennsylvania. He attended Saint Clement School in Tarentum; then the Divine Word minor seminary and college in Girard, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1931.

He attended the Divine Word Major Seminary in Techny, Illinois, and graduated in 1938. Father Lovasik then completed his theological studies at the Gregorian Papal University in Rome and was ordained a priest at the Divine Word Seminary.

Father Lovasik spent several years as a teacher and Prefect of Seminarians. He spent 35 years preaching missions and retreats throughout the Eastern United States, teaching in both the English and Slovak languages.

Father Lovasik has published more than 30 books and 75 pamphlets. Father Lovasik founded the Sisters of the Divine Spirit in 1955 and in 1967, founded the Family Service Corps., which is a community of women dedicated to social work.

Father was assigned to the divine work mission in Oakland, Pennsylvania in 1967, where he was engaged in missionary work until the time of his retirement in 1982.

Father Lovasik's dream was to make God more known and loved. He achieved his dream through his writing: he authored over 30 books and 75 pamphlets.

After Father's death in June 1986, his brother Raymond Lovasik formed Father Lovasik Publications in order to continue what Father started back in 1943.

Father Lovasik Publications distributes Father's books, pamphlets and other publications to book dealers, priests, religious, and lay people from the distribution center located at 211 West 7th Avenue, Tarentum, Pa 15084.

Orders can be placed by mail, and now through the web site.

Raymond Lovasik, president, and his son Michael, vice president, are currently carrying out what Father Lovasik started over 60 years ago; making God more known and loved.
